U.S. equity markets posted losses in all three indexes last week. The NASDAQ Composite lost 0.18%, the S&P 500 lost 1.32%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 1.93%. Out of the 11 sectors, only one gained last week: Energy (up 1.67%). Four of the eight Quantified Funds were up last week: The Quantified Pattern Recognition Fund (QSPMX) gained 2.77%, the Quantified Tactical Fixed Income Fund (QFITX) gained 1.40%, the Quantified Evolution Plus Fund (QEVOX) was up 0.93%, the Quantified Market Leaders Fund (QMLFX) was up 0.21%, the Quantified Alternative Investment Fund (QALTX) remained unchanged, the Quantified Managed Income Fund (QBDSX) lost 0.22%, the Quantified STF Fund (QSTFX) was down 0.34%, and the Quantified Common Ground Fund (QCGDX) was down 0.68%.

The Market Environment Indicator (MEI) remained bearish last week. On Friday, equity asset-class allocations in the Quantified Market Leaders Fund changed to the following: Large-Cap Growth (15.60%), Mid-Cap Growth (11.70%), Money Market (9.00%), Emerging Markets (7.80%), and Small-Cap Growth (3.90%). Total sector ETF weightings remained at 52.00%, holding equal exposures in Biotechnology, Health Care, Internet, and Technology. The individual ETF positions with the leading portfolio weightings were the iShares Russell 1000 Growth Index ETF (IWF, 15.60%), the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB, 13.00%), and the Health Care Select SPDR ETF (XLV, 13.00%). Total cash changed to 9.00%.

Within the Quantified Alternative Investment Fund (QALTX), the Long/Short Market Neutral Alternative subportfolio made no major changes last week. There were a few changes among the largest positions: Allocation to the iShares US Fixed Income Balanced Risk ETF (FIBR, 1.87%) increased, while allocation to the FlexShares iBoxx 3Year Target Duration TIPS ETF (TDTT, 2.41%) decreased. Last week, the funds were down 0.53% and up 0.40%, respectively.

The cash level within the Alternative Fund decreased to 61.19% last week. The daily trading of S&P 500 Index futures with 10% fund capital allocation remained neutral for the week. The 7.5% capital allocation of the volatility-based systematic trading of NASDAQ 100 Index futures started the week at 3.0% net short, switched to 2.0% net short on Wednesday’s close, and remained there for the rest of the week.

The Self-adjusting Trend Following strategy’s signal exposure in the NASDAQ 100 Index (NDX) had 100% exposure throughout the week. The Quantified STF Fund (QSTFX) was down 0.34%, compared to a loss of 0.52% on the NASDAQ 100 Index (NDX) and a loss of 0.54% for the Rydex Series NASDAQ 100 Fund (RYHOX), a current potential holding of the STF strategy.

The Quantified Managed Income Fund’s (QBDSX) two leading broad-bond index ETF holdings are the Vanguard Short-Term Bond ETF (BSV, 25.65%) and the iShares Barclays 7-10 Year Treasury ETF (IEF, 15.78%). Last week, the funds were down 0.16% and up 0.32%, respectively. Cash remained at 12.50%.

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield closed the week up 1.18%. The 12% active portfolio exposure to 30-year U.S. Treasury bond futures in the Fund started and ended the week at 9.0% net long.

The Quantified Pattern Recognition Fund (QSPMX) started the week with a leverage factor of 0.0, increased to 0.8 on Tuesday’s close, and remained there through the end of the week.

The Quantified Tactical Fixed Income Fund (QFITX) had an allocation of 58% in RYHBX and 42% in MPIXX throughout last week.

The Quantified Evolution Plus Fund (QEVOX) allocation changed to the following: 65% in intermediate-term Treasurys, 16% in long-term Treasurys, 13% in cash, and 6% in the NASDAQ.

The Quantified Common Ground Fund (QCGDX) remained at 77.58% cash exposure last week. The Fund’s largest allocations were to American Electric Power (AEP, 5.36%) and Wisconsin Energy (WEC, 5.01%). Last week, the stocks were down 3.65% and 6.55%, respectively.
